  • Leasehold Flat...Freehold Garage Conversion

I am in the process of selling a 2 bedroom ground floor flat. about a week before we were due to complete the buyers solicitors/lender picked an issue. The 2nd bedroom had previously been a garage. I have all the new title deeds confirming the change of use, so that's fine. The issue i have, is that the people i bought the property from didnt change the garage/bedroom from freehold to leasehold. So now i have a flat that's leasehold with a freehold bedroom. The buyers lenders are refusing to lend the mortgage until this is resolved. Nobody (including my solicitor) seems to know what to do about it. In fact they've pretty much taken to ignoring my calls now. We're obviously beside ourselves with worry, as the whole chain could break if this isn't resolved. This has been going on for weeks now with no answer. has anyone heard of this issue before? surely it's just a case of either signing over the freehold of the garage to the main freeholder, then adding the bedroom to the apartment's lease? any advice appreciated!
