  • Three Solicitors Involved in my Purchase!

Hi, I have a long delayed purchase that i'm waiting to exchange on. It's been 18 weeks. The sellers are split between 2 solicitors because one of the sellers died and the executors have solicitors too.

It's a nightmare, anyone had anything similar? How long could this take? No one seems to be co operating.....

    Are they playing for time?

There is no good reason for a seller to want to delay exchange of contracts - after all, they want your money

I suggest you get your solicitor to ask the other side for a realistic estimate as to when they expect to be ready to exchange, explaining any significant delay. You can then impose an achievable deadline and, if not met, you may want to withdraw

    I hope this helps
This is based on my experience as a conveyancing solicitor in England, but I do not accept liability for information I give in this forum
