  • Selling maisonette on garages

Hello all. I was after some advice. We are looking at putting our first floor maisonette on the market in the new year. We tried selling a year or so ago but had loads of problems with the title (part flying freehold) and also the fact that our property sits directly on top of 3 garages (one of which we own). Prospective purchasers were asking about fire retardent measures. Not sure there's anything in place, so does anyone know who I could approach to discuss whether this is a requirement to sale and possible solutions ? Any advice would be very gratefully received, Kind Regards Andy T

I think you probably need to talk to a solicitor for the legal aspect and and a surveyor about the safety aspect. But before you do either both may now be covered by the HIPs pack which I think every vendor now has to have (although I'm not entirely sure it's absolutely everyone just yet)
