  • CGT or income tax

we bought a house in November 2014 with the intention of doing it up to rent to supplement our pensions. I am 66 and my husband is 71. we have replaced kitchen and bathroom and brought house up to a good rental standard. the intention was to use an agent but to undertake basic maintenance ourselves as it is not a high rent area. The house is now ready to rent out and we have had rental agents view but we are now reluctant to go down this road as our health is not good and it seems my husband will need to undergo a further operation. this weekend we decided we would feel less stressed if we put the house on the market thinking we would get full CGT allowance on this but reading about this I am worried that it might be deemed as income tax. we did not buy the house with the intention of selling it but it has been empty since we purchased and we have not put it for rent. sorry this is a rambling post!
