  • Selling Worries

    Okay, well we accepted an offer on our house and instructed our conveyancer 6 weeks ago. Since this date, we have found a house ourselves, sorted the survey, and sorted the searches and we have sent out the contract to our buyers for approval. A couple of weeks after accepting the offer, our buyers told us they had not even had a survey carried out on their house and had not arranged for a survey to be completed on our house. We voiced our concerns to our buyers and fair enough, a week later a surveyor arrived and carried out a survey on our house. This was 5 weeks ago. Since then we have heard nothing from our buyers or their solicitor apart from queries re the contract. Our conveyancer has written 2 letters and left an answer phone message asking for an update but with no reply. It is a nerve racking time but I am concerned about the lack of contact from our buyers. Am I worrying over nothing?

    No! Your buyers need to be put on some sort of timetable by your solicitor.
    Tell them that unless they get cracking the house will be back on the market and will be sold to whoever completes first.
    Property chains can be a real pain.
