  • Licence to Assign - unreasonable fees?

Hello, I am selling my leasehold flat and have just been advised that the cost to me to transfer the licence to assign is £750 + vat - does that sound a bit over the top? Or is it usual?
    Opinions most appreciated.

Re: Licence to Assign - unreasonable fees?

Yes it is unreasonable, but doing something about it is generally difficult. Best advice is that your solicitors should have spotted that the freeholders solicitors /managing agents were a load of xxxxx before you bought and warned you.

A formal licence drawn up by solicitors is rarely legally necessary - a letter will do - but no, we have to create unnecessary legal work so we can charge for it, don't we?

As a conveyancing solicitor I want to be helpful (England/Wales only) but can't accept liability for this.
