  • Do I auction house?

I have inherited a run-down terraced house from my Gran which was previously rented. It needs complete modernisation and has a "flying lease" (i.e we own the top-floor of the house next door but it is difficult to know who is responsible for roof etc.)

I have been advised that a potential buyer would not be able to get a mortgage and it is really only going to be of interest to a property developer because it is attractively close to the town centre and with the extra rooms is bigger than the other houses on the road.

could any one give advice whether it is best to put it on the market and then auction if there isn't interest- or is it best to put it up for auction straight away?

Who has advised this? Your own estate agent/surveyor/mortgage advisor/solicitor or other professional?
