  • Selling with no onward property to go to - experiences/advice sought!

Hi, we have just accepted second offer on our property as the first one fell through but yet again we are in the same situation in that we have not found an onward property we love -yes, there are properties out there but none seem suitable for us and we feel we would be "settling".

The obvious answer is to rent and see if something turns up meanwhile - I would love to hear from anyone who is / has been in the same situation and may have any advice - for any synics ... yes, we are definitely ready to move - its just scary that we don't know where we are going to end up !!!!

Also, what happens if we say we are going to rent, therefore end of chain but then a property turns up / we offer on whilst exchanging or after exchanged contracts !!!????? Presume the chain would then take longer timewise and could botch things up ?????

Where exactly do you live and what is your budget for buying a house?

Why not rent for 6 months until you decide where you really what to be....it takes an average of 12 weeks to purchase a property anyway. Worse case scenario, if you do find a property you really like between exchanging contracts on your property and signing a 6 month rental contract, it will buy you some time to see the buying process through...as you know these things don't always run as smoothly as we hope, even when all documentation is in place!
