  • Why no 3 month lets

I'm trying to find a rental property in SW England but the agent wont ask the owners if they will do a 3 month rental.

    Why is this?

If anyone knows of any, its for a couple, non smokers, 2 cats, semi / rural perfered.

    Wanted whilst house hunting.

    Go to another agent.

In the current climate, some landlords will accept short term lets. However, an AST (Assured Shorthold (I think it is shorthold) Tenancy) is for 6 months.

The Assured Shorthold Tenancy was introduced in the 1988 Housing Act it basically adds some important rules to give the landlord and the tenant more rights. The standard length of tenancy is 6 months in the case of an Assured Shorthold Tenancy. There is quite a bit of information floating around the Internet about this so it might be worth you Googling it.
