    I know its not illegal to not have insurance but surely it should not even cross a landlord's mind to not take it out. A let property is a huge investment and the risk of not being insured is too high.

    If it burnt to the ground you would be several hundred thousand pounds out of pocket. It is not an option in my opinion.

        Our standard TA has a clause to oblige LL to insure his property and LL contents.
