  • What's happening to the UK housing market - Stamp Duty Holiday Rumours

A rumour is promulgated by the government that there may be a stamp duty freeze "to stimulate the housing market". And then they sit back having lunch in Beijing.

The net result? Very few buyers prepared to proceed as they await this "freeze" like a proverbial number 9 bus.

Either get on and suspend Stamp Duty to stimulate the UK housing market or make it clear that it was just a way of grabbing some headlines on a bad news day. But please don't further undermine the UK housing market with procrastination and indecison.

Yep, it seems Darling is creating yet another silly mess. He cancelled an interview with the BBC's Robert Preston so to avoid making any statement on stamp - and with that, lost a chance to calm the market.

Yip they have caused complete and utter chaos, i know off 4 clients who have put completing on hold , until they decide what they are doing.

Brown and Darling should stop dithering about and for once just once make a decision please.

Brown and Darlingsitting on the fence again, this is not going to help the market. Mortgage rates are now coming down with good incentives, but buyers are holding out for the stamp duty freeze which may or may not happen.
