  • Lease extension need registration before completion?

    Hi there,

We have extended the lease of our flat but have not yet registered this with the land registry. We are moving in 3 weeks and we are struggling to find out from BMS who are providing out let to buy mortgage on the flat whether this needs to be registered before completion or whether we can register it afterwards. Does anyone know?

    Thanks

Re: Lease extension need registration before completion?

When extending your lease, was this not done via a solicitor? I thought a solicitor was required and if so, part of the process would likely to have catered for the land registry and therefore I'd suggest you contact that solicitor for advice

**I've posted this in both your threads regarding this**

      Thanks for responding

The solicitor is being unhelpful I have contacted the land registry and the registration seems quite easy but we need to know if BMS will honour the mortgage offer with the registration in progress (registration can take up to 8 weeks and we move in 2).

      Any advice much appreciated

To add, the solicitor at the time of extending the lease advised not to register until we move - we have literally found a new build house super quick hence the tight timelines
