  • Big gap in emplyment history

Me and my partner own our house but are not employed. We plan to move and look into mortgages once we have both found work, but both of us have very long gaps in our employment history.

Would this completely ruin our chances of being accepted for a mortgage?

    Thanks

I think you really will need at least a year's income before you can even begin to look into the possibility of a mortgage.

I'm not a mortgage professional, though - I'm simply under the impression that mortgage lenders will demand proof of income.
