  • How to get a key worker mortgage?

Key workers play an important role in our society as teachers, NHS staff, police officers, firefighters, and other public sector workers. So when it comes to getting a key worker mortgage, are there any special deals for key workers? And what are the lending criteria?

Although it may not be widely known, there are some mortgage deals, which are available only to certain occupations. There are also property schemes specifically for key workers. For example, Forces Help to Buy for army personnel.

If you are a key worker, you may also get priority when applying via some schemes, like Shared Ownership or Rent to Buy.

Finally, if you are a key worker with a work pattern or contract terms outside the traditional Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 work week, then don’t worry. Lenders accept income from bank nurses, supply teachers, army personnel posted abroad or doctors running a private practice while also being employed.
