There are different kits you can get to make prepping the door slab easy. In this particular kit you have a hole saw that connects to the side of the door to make the bore and the hole for the latch. It also has a guide and chisel to mortise the hinges. After carefully measuring you can easily do this project. If you have any more questions let me know.

I think in this case, you can use body filler to fill in the crack and repaint the door. That would be the easiest way to fix your bathroom door.

Spray the foam into the hole, foam will expand its initial size. Allow the foam to setup. Using a putty knife, remove the excess foam, so that the foam is parallel to the door. Then, take your sandpaper and sand the foam which sits below the surface of the filled hole. Allow the wood putty to cure, and then sand the entire area to a nice flat and smooth surface. Using a spray primer spray a light primer base coat over the area. A white primer will be best suited for most door applications. After the primer has dried apply the matching door paint.

I would probably use some filler, and maybe paint depending on the colour of your door, its not ideal but it will probably be the cheapest option
