  • HIP's- Waste of time?

Hello, I'm currently doing some research on the home information packs that you should have been given if you bought your house in 2008-2009 and I was wondering what you all thought of it, if you read it, saw the Energy Performance Certificate and paid any attention to the recommendations; if so what recommendations you did or why you chose not to, and if you haven't seen the EPC or HIP if it would have been of any use to you?!

I have made up a quick questionnaire, so if you really feel strong enough and would like to help me out with my research I'd really appreciate it if you could message me at and i will provide it for you, it's only 4 questions and is very easy!!

Look forward to hearing your discussions on this topic and thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    Mel,

EPC and HIP, although a pain in the backside, are one of the ways to bring legislative change to the UK. EPC & HIPs are based on facts. It is then the home owners choice to take action upon this.

Compare to buying a car - If you want A/C in your car, your not going to buy one without it and at later date fit it?

Its a difficult topic as I was against when they first came out but the thinking behind it is to keep responsibility for upgrade/maintenance of the property with the owner.

There is a massive amount of housing stock wasting soooo much energy, this is the way to being these upgrades.
