I got the mortgage company valuation report and it says "Parts of the property are thought to contain asbestos material. you should take care when carrying out repairs, maintenance, and renewal."

i am not sure if I need to worry about ? this is 80 years house in a street in north London and all the houses done during the same period, possibly 1930s. please let me know if I need to worry ?

    thanks, ozgur

    Re: asbestos

Depends what kind of asbestos and where it is- you would need to have a more detailed survey to highlight the areas in question. Lender can't be that bothered otherwise they wouldn't be lending.

Certainly it is often the case that there is no problem unless you disturb the areas.

      Re: asbestos

If you ever want to do work that involves removal of asbestos, it has to be disposed of in a controlled manner which means employing a specialist asbestos removal company - this can be costly.
