    Just a quick reminder to anyone about to purchase a house, stamp duty will be payable on all purchases above £125k after 31st December 2009.

    Also, be aware that you would need to complete by then in order to avoid the higher rate, exchange is not good enough.

    Has this been confirmed ? do you think the government might extend this further as the house market still has not recovered ?

      This has been confirmed. Mr Darling did not extend the deadline in the Pre-Budget.
