  • Permitted Development Issues

Hi, just wondering if anyone has come up against a similar issue? We are almost ready to exchange on a house that has had half of an adjoining double garage converted into a utility room / pantry. We think this has been done under permitted development rights but are waiting for confirmation from the vendors. What I would like to know is, if the work has been done under permitted development rights, how to we know if things have been done properly? E.g. insulation? Does conversion work still need any kind off sign off?

The homebuyer report we had done pointed out that the house security might not be up to scratch, as there are only internal doors separating the utility from the garage and then joining into the rest of the house. It has made us worry a little that the owners haven't had to follow any guidelines for the work they have carried out.
