  • The Portuguese market holds steady

Portugals property market is holding steady despite the chaos surrounding it indeed there are new riverside projects and investment property oportunities all around but especialy in the Tomar area of central Portugal.

I agree, the property market in Central Portugal is so far uneffected by any problems, infact were still seeing an increase in prices in most sectors. It does seem that with the difficulties other markets are having, investing in the Central portugal region could be a wise move.

Or else Portugal hasn't yet fallen in line with other countries - Spain is in recession, as are a number of European countries, plus others are close to it, ie, the UK.

      Definitely a time for prudence.

Hi Brian, could be, we just have to hope it doesnt, i feel that Portugals economy will ride out a recession better than some, we havent had the roller coaster changes that other countries have seen, more stable and steady here, especially in the property market, no huge increases in prices so no great falls, as other countries have experianced.

                Uk recession

Spain is almost certainly in recession the Uk may follow but there the similarity ends the UK housing market will recover well before Spain or the US on demand. As for Portugal growth will slow but the housing market should remain stable as Dereck points out we have not seen a rollercoaster housing boom at least not outside of the Algarve and Lisbon.

30,000 sounds very good value for an apartment, are the prices still falling or are they going up?
