Thats true. He returned to Robertson Homes and promptly made loads of people redundant because obviously he knows how to run a successful Company.

It was just a matter of time before Manorlane went down the tubes, who knows what Elliot Robertson will do to Robertson Homes now that he is in charge of that. Must be great to have a father who picks up the pieces and to hell with everyone else

If the company is offline then try a search acrtoss the web for addresses. Companies House will help - online service £1 for a download of details of company secretary, directors etc - will include home addresses.

Just a pity the directors can walk away with what they have done to people... The lesson learned here is, just because he is Elliot Robertson, do not assume he will be as good as his father.

In my experience may builders are the same when it comes to snagging. Once they have your cash they no longer wish to know you. Where did the Manorlane team learn their business? Robertsoin homes maybe?

    Why is NHBC not involved?

Heard that some substandard roofing companies close down and then reopen using a different trading name etc - your contract is with the original rather than the new company. This way they can walk away from any previous contractual obligations. Wonder if it is the same in the building industry?

Ouch - sorry to hear the company appears to have folded. Will be interesting to see what position the existing buyers are in now with regards to Zurich.

You are so right to run... Having just tried to make a claim to have our house finished... Zurich are not interested. So be warned your Zurich guarantee is worthless against a bunch of cowboys like Manorlane.

Oh well, it is now down to the courts, papers, TV, local councillors and member of parliament. Someone somewhere will sort these cowboys.

I am a bit worried about the NHBC comment you have made, they must have a similar warranty?

    Hiya,

I agree with you that most of them do look like shoe boxes, however I'd rather live in a shoe box that I can make stunning and is still standing in 10 years. I think on the face of things, the Manorlane ones look amazing, but the two properties I considered buying were not so great on close inspection. A lot of broken cornice that had been "repaired", dents in some of the walls, wires lying all over the place, shower hanging off the wall and when you opened the master bedroom window, it hung off the wall and you couldn't get it shut! The other property was slightly better, but not much. I spoke to the construction manager and asked when the property would be finished, and he said it was. I just laughed and decided to go with my gut instinct - run!

My solicitor also said she would not have me buy a house without the NHBC.

I hope your home is ok though and I wish you all the best for the move. I'll gladly be moving into my shoe box next week.

There's simply too many people out there with big problems with this company for me to ignore. I think I have the count at 11, but perhaps it's more.

I'd like to thank you for taking the time to post these issues as I certainly have read everything and come to the conclusion that avoiding Manorlane homes will be a wise move.

I'm so sorry you have so many issues though.
