I'm have recently gone self employed as a builder with my friend. We are general builders and do pretty much any type of work. We have a couple of builders who are giving us work at the moment.
I'm keen to build and develop our business, increase our work load, possibly even employ some labour.
I think this will be challenging, but I'm ambitious and hardworking.
Does anybody have any advice or experience doing this that may help.

You need to get some experience, qualifications and some satisfied customer references.

Without specailist knowledge and skills it is doomed to failure.
Put it this way I wouldn't hire you to work on my house!

Builder's may be portrayed as thick on the TV soaps etc but they need to be quite clever and organised.
