  • New drive highways authority question?

    Hello all

I am doing a development down in the deepest darkest depths of cornwall (no, most of them have 5 toes on each foot really. At least my girlfriend does). The question is that the house needs a drive and from what I can gather from the governments wonderfull planning portal no planning permision is required to build a premiable drive (will do out of block paving). I need to take down a one metre high stone wall that leads directly onto the road. We do not need a drop kerb as there is no kerb. The drive comes out onto an A road that passes through the village so could this be a issue with highways agency? (it is in a 30 zone with clear 100m views up and down on a straight road and all the neighbours have drives.) So, do I just crack on with it or does highways or anybody else have a say? any help would be appreciated.

    have a good day everybody.

    Hi Stuart

I could be wrong but I imagine that the Highways Dept of the local council might well have to be informed as you'd have to stand in the road to knock the wall down and the stones could potentially end up in the road causing a hazard to motorists. I think you should either phone them or have a quick word with the neighbours who've done it as they'll be able to tell you.

I am planning on being uber carefull and taking it all down from the inside to prevent any major car-rock interfaces. The neighbours i have asked all had there drives done years back so unfortunatly are not much help as to current situation.

      cheers
