  • King Homes

King Homes have some very attractive 4 bedroom houses, though they also do some 3 bedroom and a 5 bedroom model.

Currently they have a string of small developments across Central Scotland: Auchterarder and Blackfoot, along the A9 between Stirling and Perth; Plean, which is just south of Stirling, and Blairgowrie, which is north of Perth along the A9 and just past Pitlochry.

With their pleasant designs, you can really see this company getting bigger. Check out the following in their 4-bedroom selection:

    Falkland
    Lawers

Prices reflect the quality of the homes built, but it's worth taking noting that these are nice secluded developments away from the town.

Their website is a bit awful to use, which is a shame. Not only is it built using frames, which makes their site PDF's almost impossible to read within frames, there are also some links that don't work in either Internet Explorer or Firefox for the map locations - but hopefully they'll fix those issues soon enough.

No prices on the website, either.

I rang their main office yesterday and stated my intention to visit the Crieff site today.

We arrived in Crieff and the sales office was closed - I rang the main office and apparently the sales agent called in sick. Would have been nice to have been contacted before wasting a journey.

Anyway, we were told that if we wanted to look at the Falkland and Lawers, we should go to the Stirling development at Strathallan Park.

So we drove there, but when we arrived we were told that there were no Lawers available to view.

Anyway, we had a look around the Falkland showhouse, and it was a very nice looking home. The lounge is large and the reception hallway and upstairs hallways were nice, and all of the bedrooms were a good size.

The only complaint was realy that their interior designer didn't really have a clue - there were lots of bulky items stacked in any place possible, which blocked up rooms and windowsills. The lounge was especially cramped because of this, and they'd even succeeded in making it look a lot smaller by having one soft pulled out 2 foot from the back wall, and then stuffed another sofa and then cupboards towards the bay window, so you couldn't really appreciate the space very well.

Anyway, we asked for information on the third phase of development, price list, and plans of the Falkland and Lawers.

When we got home, we found we'd been given information on the Lawers and Elgin instead, and nothing on the Falkland. We were also given plans of the existing development, and nothing on the hitrd-phase, as asked for. I mean, really, how difficult is it to select the right sheets of paper?

The Crieff development looked nice, and the upstairs probably has nice views along the valley and Grampian foothills. The Strathallan Park development felt cramped, though, and I'm surprised they're charging higher prices for homes built on level ground beside the river on one side, and a prison directly on the other.

Ok, I contacted them last month via their website to have brochures sent to me - nothing received so far.

I've also left a message at the Crieff development to find out about prices - no call back yet.

The website offers no contact information other than the individual developments.

Hm, this company sure don't seem in a rush to sell me anything.

          Lawers

I live in the Strathallan estate, in one of the earlier phases in a Lawers. I was very impressed with King homes, both with the quality of the build and the after sales service. My snagging list was virtually non existent, and this was even with a slight delay as every single tradesman had gone to the Celtic cup final!

My bedrooms are absolutely enormous, every single one can legitimately be described as a double room.

In the new versions of the Lawers they have had to adjust the size of the downstairs toilet door as it wasnt big enough in the earlier phases to accomodate a wheelchair, which means the layout has changed slightly. The kitchen has had to be reduced in size, and the 4th bedroom upstairs now has no internal wardrobe, so is really only now a very big study. So for that reason im glad i bought an earlier version.

I certainly agree they are nice homes - just a shame they don't seem to want to talk to me about selling me one!
