  • Managing Agent wouldn't open the curtains!

What do you all think of this.... i have a buy to let that's fully managed because I live hundreds of miles away. I asked the letting agent to do an inspection. She came back to me to say that there was condensation in the bedroom. I asked whether the airbricks in the wall had been blocked. She replied that she didn't know because the curtains were closed (thereby obscuring her view of the vent). Apparently Letting Agents aren't allowed to make any changes to the property. They CAN'T OPEN THE CURTAINS??? Really? Am I being unreasonable in expecting them to open the curtains.

Er no?!! I'm sure you're paying them a fortune to manage the property for you, it's their responsibility to make sure it's properly cared for and that includes ventilation which is the number one cause of condensation and damp. You should find yourself a new agent.

Not something I have ever heard an agent say. Probably worth a call back to the manager to clarify?
