This sort of thing with supermarkets is not new. Tesco have been doing car insurance for years. Whether of course buyers will be convinced about the possibility of buying a house from a supermarket rather than a specialist estate agent is another matter.

That's crazy, although it would probably be safe, these supermarkets seem to do most things quite well.

Which EA charges you for showing you their available listings...??

Where's the proof of 'fleecing and gouging'...?

Very curious as to what ever happened with this. Coming across this thread today was the first I ever heard about it - Does anyone know whether or not it was a success?

Their idea is to drive cost of selling a property down, thus putting many others (agents) out of work. They thought that a high turnover would make it work. A better one I came across this property competition site and it seem the way to go and try your luck. This house competition odds seems better than the national lottery.

Spriral Sight is offering tickets at £25 each for a chance to win a property. This is the first property to be a prize where only 8,800 tickets will be on sale and the winner of the competition will have a mortgage free four bedroom house. This will be the first property to go on raffle on spriralsight.co.uk - the name of his new property raffle website.

I will be listing my house her to be sold in a house competition.

    Stop them

Its so rediculous, we all know they are not Asda, they just rent the name out. They do it with appliances, insurance, new cars etc. It's supposed to give credability to the sale but we never really know who we are buying it from!

They try to get their grubby paws in every pie! Tesco, ASDA etc do so much more nowadays than darn groceries!

Errr.. What an interesting idea... They can't be serious! I don't think we even have an ASDA around here which is a shame because I would have liked to have seen it!

isnt it a bit limited though, if they are only showing details on a screen, then you cant presumably get a print out of the pripoerty you want or ask questions etc...

Lmao!! I can just see it unfortunately.

Doesn't this encroach on the monopoly laws? Or are they getting around their (legal) inability to expand in retail by expanding into other areas.
